In our upcoming learning theme, "Y Streic Fawr," your children will embark on an immersive journey through time. They will delve into the lives of Victorian-era locals by exploring both ends of the spectrum, from the opulent estates to the toiling quarries. Through captivating visits to the National Slate Museum in Llanberis and Castell Penrhyn, they will witness history come alive before their eyes.
Following these enlightening excursions, your children will actively shape their learning experience by brainstorming activities and topics of interest. They will hone their research skills by formulating probing questions and delving into historical archives to unravel the mysteries of the past.
Immersing themselves in the events of the 1901 strike at Penrhyn quarry, they will gain insight into the struggles and triumphs of the era. Inspired by real-life accounts, such as the novel "Bwli a Bradwr," they will engage in a variety of activities, from dramatic reenactments to crafting compelling narratives.
Moreover, they will explore the interconnectedness of historical events, delving into the ties between the local economy and the global slave trade. Through in-depth research, they will uncover the roles of key figures and the impact of significant events on society.
To foster entrepreneurial skills, your children will undertake a project to devise a profitable business plan, showcasing their creativity and strategic thinking. They will also explore the artistic representations of quarry life by studying the works of Ifor Pritchard, gaining insights into both the aesthetic and practical aspects of their surroundings.
In the realm of science, they will investigate the principles of forces and mechanics, gaining hands-on experience with levers and other simple machines. These explorations will culminate in a musical extravaganza, where they will synthesize their newfound knowledge into a captivating performance.
The pinnacle of their journey will be a grand showcase at Theatre Ogwen in Bethesda, where they will dazzle audiences with their talents in scriptwriting, costume design, and theatrical performance. This immersive learning experience promises to ignite their curiosity, inspire creativity, and foster a lifelong love for learning.
The Great Strike
Yn ein thema ddysgu sydd ar ddod, "Y Streic Fawr," bydd eich plant yn cychwyn ar daith drochi trwy amser. Byddant yn ymchwilio i fywydau pobl leol o'r oes Fictoria drwy archwilio dau ben y sbectrwm, o'r ystadau godidog i'r chwareli llafurus. Trwy ymweliadau cyfareddol ag Amgueddfa Lechi Cymru yn Llanberis a Chastell Penrhyn, byddant yn gweld hanes yn dod yn fyw o flaen eu llygaid.
Yn dilyn y teithiau goleuedig hyn, bydd eich plant yn mynd ati i siapio eu profiad dysgu trwy drafod syniadau a phynciau o ddiddordeb. Byddant yn mireinio eu sgiliau ymchwil trwy lunio cwestiynau treiddgar ac ymchwilio i archifau hanesyddol i ddatrys dirgelion y gorffennol.
Gan ymgolli yn nigwyddiadau streic 1901 yn chwarel y Penrhyn, byddant yn cael cipolwg ar frwydrau a buddugoliaethau'r cyfnod. Wedi'u hysbrydoli gan hanesion bywyd go iawn, fel y nofel "Bwli a Bradwr", byddant yn cymryd rhan mewn amrywiaeth o weithgareddau, o ailddarllediadau dramatig i grefftio naratifau cymhellol.
Ar ben hynny, byddant yn archwilio cydgysylltiad digwyddiadau hanesyddol, gan ymchwilio i'r cysylltiadau rhwng yr economi leol a'r fasnach gaethweision fyd-eang. Trwy ymchwil manwl, byddant yn datgelu rolau ffigurau allweddol ac effaith digwyddiadau arwyddocaol ar gymdeithas.
Er mwyn meithrin sgiliau entrepreneuraidd, bydd eich plant yn ymgymryd â phrosiect i ddyfeisio cynllun busnes proffidiol, gan arddangos eu creadigrwydd a meddwl strategol. Byddant hefyd yn archwilio cynrychioliadau artistig o fywyd y chwarel trwy astudio gweithiau Ifor Pritchard, gan gael mewnwelediad i agweddau esthetig ac ymarferol eu hamgylchoedd.
Ym myd gwyddoniaeth, byddant yn ymchwilio i egwyddorion grymoedd a mecaneg, gan ennill profiad ymarferol gyda liferi a pheiriannau syml eraill. Bydd yr archwiliadau hyn yn dod i ben gyda strafagansa gerddorol, lle byddant yn cyfuno eu gwybodaeth newydd yn berfformiad cyfareddol.
Pinacl eu taith fydd sioe fawreddog yn Theatr Ogwen ym Methesda, lle byddant yn syfrdanu cynulleidfaoedd gyda’u doniau mewn sgriptio, dylunio gwisgoedd, a pherfformiad theatrig. Mae'r profiad dysgu trochi hwn yn addo tanio eu chwilfrydedd, ysbrydoli creadigrwydd, a meithrin cariad gydol oes at ddysgu.
