Yn thema Gourmet Byd-eang Blwyddyn 4, byddant yn cychwyn ar daith ddysgu gyffrous yn llawn profiadau lu. Cânt gyfle i baratoi a blasu pizzas gyda’r ‘Jones Pizza’ Co., yn nodi dechrau gwych i’w gwaith. Byddant hefyd yn dysgu am wahanol gymunedau a diwylliannau drwy gydol y thema. Trwy waith map ac ymchwil, byddant yn casglu gwybodaeth am fwyd, dylanwadau diwylliannol, newyn ac anghydraddoldeb, gan godi ymwybyddiaeth am y pynciau hollbwysig hyn a dangos empathi a dealltwriaeth o hawliau plant. Bydd y dosbarth hefyd yn canolbwyntio ar ddathliadau o wahanol grefyddau a bwydydd pwysig ac yn ymweld â’r Gadeirlan ar gyfer eu gŵyl gynhaeaf o ddiolchgarwch a gwasanaeth Nadolig.

Yn ogystal, byddant yn cymryd rhan mewn trafodaethau, gan archwilio cysyniadau fel Masnach Deg ac arwyddocâd banciau bwyd. Byddant yn greadigol wrth wneud hysbyseb berswadiol i hyrwyddo Masnach Deg a thaflenni am ‘ddannedd pydredd siwgr’, a fydd yn rhan o’u gwaith ymchwilio gwyddoniaeth, yn astudio effeithiau siwgr ar iechyd deintyddol. Bydd ymweliad gan ddeintydd yn tanio llawer o gwestiynau, a bydd eu cyfranogiad yng ngweithdy gwyddoniaeth ‘Sbarduno’ yn cyfoethogi eu dealltwriaeth ymhellach. Ar ben hynny, byddant yn ymchwilio i fanylion y system dreulio, gan egluro sut mae'r system dreulio'n gweithio a chreu model erchyll i'w ddangos!

Byddant yn dysgu am bwysigrwydd diet cytbwys i unigolion a'r blaned, gan archwilio cysyniadau fel milltiroedd bwyd a chynaliadwyedd. Byddant yn cael cipolwg ar effaith dewisiadau bwyd ar yr amgylchedd, gan ddysgu am y cysyniad "o'r fferm i'r fforc", gan ddangos eu hymrwymiad i wneud dewisiadau cynaliadwy i ofalu am y blaned. Hefyd, byddant yn dysgu am effaith diet ac ymarfer corff ar iechyd corfforol a meddyliol.

Bydd Blwyddyn 4 yn cymryd rhan mewn sesiynau coginio fel uchafbwynt eu taith ddysgu, gan bwysleisio pwysigrwydd cynllunio gofalus, dangos parodrwydd i fynd i’r afael â heriau, deall diogelwch a hylendid yn y gegin, sgiliau coginio, cymryd rolau gwahanol mewn timau yn effeithiol, a dangos eu problem- sgiliau datrys ac adolygu a gwerthuso eu taith. Byddant yn rhoi eu gwybodaeth newydd ar waith ac yn dyfnhau eu dealltwriaeth o fwyd byd-eang.

Global Gourmet

In Year 4's Global Gourmet theme, they will embark on an exciting learning journey filled with many experiences. They will have the opportunity to prepare and taste pizzas with the ‘Jones Pizza’ Co., marking a great start to their work. They will also learn about different communities and cultures throughout the theme. Through map work and research, they will gather information about food, cultural influences, hunger, and inequality, raising awareness about these crucial topics and showing empathy and understanding of children’s rights. The class will also focus on celebrations of various religions and important foods and will visit the Cathedral for their harvest festival of thanksgiving and Christmas service.

Additionally, they will engage in discussions, exploring concepts such as Fairtrade and the significance of food banks. They will be creative in making a persuasive advert to promote Fairtrade and leaflets about ‘sugar rots teeth’, which will be a part of their science investigation work, studying the effects of sugar on dental health. A visit by a dentist will spark many questions, and their participation in the ‘Sbarduno’ science workshop will further enrich their understanding. Moreover, they will investigate the details of the digestive system, explaining how the digestive system works and creating a gruesome model to demonstrate!

They will learn about the importance of a balanced diet for both individuals and the planet, exploring concepts like food miles and sustainability. They will gain insight into the impact of food choices on the environment, learning about the "farm to fork" concept, showing their commitment to making sustainable choices to look after the planet. Also, they will learn about the impact of diet and exercise on physical and mental health.

Year 4 will engage in cooking sessions as the highlight of their learning journey, emphasizing the importance of careful planning, demonstrating a willingness to tackle challenges, understanding kitchen safety and hygiene, cooking skills, effectively taking different roles in teams, and showing their problem-solving skills and reviewing and evaluating their journey. They will put their newly acquired knowledge into practice and deepen their understanding of Global food.
